instructions
Hi, I'm looking for the instructions to this!!! Thanks, Chris
So start emailing me again. :)
I started sending this as a pdf in an email for all those interested. I got over 100 requests. So I uploaded the article and pictures to my blog, giving all credit to Sew News and linking back to them. I received the email in the post below so I'll take down my blog post but for those that still want instructions and pictures just email me for them. Jessicamg@gmail.com If you're like me you can't get ahold of a past magazing where you live or purchase one online. So if you see something you want to make you're stuck without the instructions. I'll no longer be a part of Sew News I did nothing more than share a pattern and tutorial for those of us that can't get the magazine. Email me for the pattern and instructions and I'll try to respond and send it back to you with 2 days. Thanks all!!!
I received this silly email earlier
Hello Jessica, It has come to my attention that back in December 2012, you began providing instructions to people for our Cozy Toes pattern tutorial. Then you posted the full instructions and even scanned the how-to images onto your blog for all to see. This is in direct violation of our copyright and I am asking that you remove this posting immediately. We own this content, and although you make no claim to it on your blog, you have not purchased the rights to it, as we have. The pattern was posted on our site in conjunction with the print article in the magazine. In order to obtain the instructions, the article is needed. Even when the issue is out of print, the instructions are still available for an individual article reprint or a digital or print issue in its entirety can be purchased. The point is, we have all-rights to this pattern and the instructions in a legally binding contract. I do understand the frustration of people posting comments about the pattern on our site. And I'm sure you can also understand that we are in the business of educating our readers as well as attracting new ones. How do you expect us to stay in business if all of our content is given away for free? We offer a lot of content for free as it is, including patterns, templates and instructions. But we must recoup the cost of rights from designers, sewers and writers. I appreciate that you are one of our dedicated readers and were acting to help those in need. I'm excited that you're a member of our Sewing District, and an active member at that. But I must respectfully ask you to remove your posting. Thank you kindly, Ellen March

Emailing instructions
Hello all, I have had more than 70 emails asking for the instructions for the slippers that I scanned in. Hopefully I've emailed the PDF file to everyone but due to how many of you may want the instructions in the future I have posted the instructions with pictures on my blog. THESE ARE NOT MY INSTRUCTIONS but the instructions from Sew News magazine. I take no credit for the instructions or the pictures. If you want the instructions follow the link below to my blog post and you should be able to get everything you need from there. Happy Sewing. http://jessicagilliard.blogspot.com/2012/12/cozy-toes.html
instructable site
i went to the instructables site and typed cozy toes into the search box and did not find the instructions. HELP please as i have purchased materials for three pairs of slippers. thanks
how to make these
This is the Instructables site where they show you, step by step, how to make these: http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Slippers/?ALLSTEPS
So frustrated!!!
I have the mag with the instructions in it and was so excited to make these for my mom and daughter as a gift. After trying to make the frist one I was too frustrated to attempt to make the sister pair. The instructions for this are sooooo confusing and I've been sewing for years. Eventually I stopped looking at the instructions and winged it and my final product turned out like the picture and they are super cute. I'll scan in the instructions at work and email them to anyone that may want them. Just email me Jessicamg@gmail.com and I'll be happy to send them your way. Once the mag is out of print then it's kind of a tease to give a free pattern without anyway for anyone to get ahold of the instructions!
cozy toes
if anyone has the instructions for this pattern I would greatly appreciate them.
cozy toes pattern
jacqueo84 - can you help me? I can't find it!
Cozy toes pattern
Ok i posted the question and then tried something else. I actually opened it through google chrome and I am printing it now!! YAH!!!!
Cozy toes pattern
I'm not being able to download the pattern. Is it still available???
question.
Are the instructions no longer available? Beginners need instructions to prevent expensive mistakes.
information
I mean does anyone know what stores carry the magazine.
information
Does anyone know what stores carry the pattern?
Cozy Toes Instructions
The instructions contained in the Sept/Oct 2011 issue are extremely misleading to me. Is there any way to get a more understandable (simple) set of steps for the newbies in the group (me included)?
instructions please
did anyone get instructions
instructions please
would like the instructions to make these cosy toes please, they look very comfortable.
rude speaking
This place is for the fun and learning of new and old sewers alike. What has happened to the golden rule? If someone asks if they have made a mistake downloading or if there are instructions, that is not ungrateful or rude. However, you would think that the response if that were the case, would show grace and tolerance rather than trying to injure with words. Isn't it hard enough in the "real" world without causing hurt feelings where there should be nothing but a spirit of giving and sharing?
Silver Award
my daughter did these slippers for her Silver Award for girl scouts and sent them to CHOP hospital for kids. enjoyed making them some people found it difficult while others had a great time making them. wow what a project it was! so Proud of her
Can't wait to get started
not much to say yet--more to say after I get material
Actual Pattern instructions
How do I go about getting the actual instructions for this? I made a pair w/o the instructions but I don't think I did it completely right.
possible help...
it appears that the seams are on the outside (kinda like moccasins)... However, if you wanted them on the inside, it would probably help to make them slightly bigger than your shoe size (for room for the seam, if using the fuzzy interior fabric). Also, trimming the fuzzy fabric closer to the seam allowance would also help cut down on the bulk. One final thing, I have seen patterns (with instructions) for baby shoes that are very similar. Anyone having issues with the lack of instructions may see if they can find those for reference. I can’t wait to make a few pairs of these a gifts. Happy sewing!
can't wait to try these slippers
should be easy to figure out without the pattern instructions, this is one of the few mags I don't have but will give it a try, would make great gifts for shut ins
I can't believe how greedy some of you are.
Uh, are some of you guys really complaining about not being given instruction to a FREE pattern which contains all of 3 pieces that are clearly labelled? Look at the preview picture and you can see how it all fits together, it' not rocket science. Also @Lynki: It's not against the law to give away patterns only and have the instructions as a bonus for people who subscribe to the magazine, especially with a pattern this simple. Companies usually give out freebies as a way to show potential customers what they would be purchasing. I think you need to realize that you (a non paying customer) are not entitled to everything a paying customer receives. If this 3 piece pattern is too hard for you to figure out how to piece together then I don't know what to tell you, buy the magazine or find a different pattern. *generic disclaimer that I don't work for this magazine and whatever* Also just so we're clear, to the people crying "false advertising": you need to look up the definition, I don't think it is what you believe it to be.
Instructions without pattern
There is at least one other company that I am aware of that post free patterns, but that you must have the magazine to get the instructions. So Sew News is not the only one. IMHO Sew News gives us lots of free patterns and instructions, so it doesn't bother me that sometimes I have to purchase the magazine. It is a business after all folks and its not false advertising because they do say "free pattern", not "free pattern and instructions" And just so everyone knows I am not an employee of Sew News and I don't know anyone that is connected to them. I just think fair is fair.
Very Misleading
I have to agree with these other ladies. If we have to buy this magazine or go in search for the magazine just to get the instructions then you are falsifying this ad for a free pattern. Who ever heard of just giving the pattern away free and not including the instructions, I low can a company get!!! This is so lame that I should report you for breaking the law, but you are so low that you would probably just find a loop whole around it. Yes I probably could go to the library & find the magazine, but that is not what the ad says therefore I shouldn't have to go in search of it. You should be apologetic to your customers, but I haven't seen an apology yet not have I seen any kind of a fix to this. All of your answers to these posts have not really cleared this up. POST THE INSTRUCTIONS - IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
Instructions
You can go to the library and get the magazine. If they don't carry it, you can ask them to.
Free Pattern
Okay free pattern is very very misleading. You are not giving away the Pattern if instructions are not included. If you have to buy a magazine then it is not free. That is false advertising which is illegal. Therefore you need to change your wording for this is not completely true. I have never seen a pattern which did not include instrutions. Therefore false advertising. You can be sued for that. Therefore you need to post instrutions for the slippers and not just a sizing pattern Or change your wording on your ad saying sizing pattern for slippers in the Oct/Nov magazine. Not free pattern.
Instructions
Okay November has come and gone could you please share the instruction for these slippers! I can't find the magazine anywhere where I Live
Instructions
I love these slippers, I downloaded the pattern and think I had to find out to make them , since I live in Belgium and cann't buy the magazine here and the postal cost to order one and let them send to Belgium are extremly high. So I will try to use the pattern and find a way to look them as beautiful as the ones here shown.
Instructions
I was able to print the pattern for the slippers, but where do I get the instructions from?
Is the top fabric sewn under before sewing to the fur and does the whip stitch cover the seams or do you sew them to the inside of the slipper? Also, do you recommend gluing the top fabric and the fur together before sewing to eliminate gaping over time? Thank you!!
RE: Frustrating Pattern
We apologize for any problems with the sizing, however since the slipper is very close-fitting the sizing might be slightly different than conventional sizing. Please make sure to test-fit the pattern before constructing. Yes, the sole is machine stitched to the slipper, and then decorative whipstitching is done by hand. Please feel free to email sewnews@sewnews.com for any further questions or problems.
Frustrating Pattern
I agree this is the most frustrating pattern. Assuming I'm following the instructions correctly,I'm had to cut to a size7 to fit a 5 foot.Pls confirm in step 4, the sole is machine sewn to the rest of the shoe and then whipstitched.Lot of trouble to make;cute slipper.
RE: Instructions
The instructions are only available int he Sept/Oct '11 issue, which is on newsstands now.
...such a deal
Seems kind of chincy to trumpet the fact you're giving this OMG FREE PATTERN if you're holding back the instructions for magazine purchasers only. Nice? Not.
Cozy toes instructions
Were there any instructions for the cozy toes slippers? I didn't find any, just the pattern pieces.
Difficult Pattern
I found the pattern to be very difficult, very difficult to understand and to fit. It made me feel almost stupid. My husband is very good at helping me with my work but even he said it was not easy to understand.
From Experience....
I played around with this pattern. It was tricky to fit. It was about 1.5 sizes too big, and the top piece is short on the toes as others noted. I felt that the sides needed some support so added interfacing there too. I suggest cutting a trial pair and play with it until it fits so you don't waste good fabric. Otherwise, very cute and easy! I made mine with old denim and vintage fabric.
Where to get magazine?
I love the slippers idea but really would like to have the instructions where do you get the book and the name of book.
cozy toes slippers
checking in on the web site and seeing comments about the slippers is the pattern right and what can i do for bigger sizes
Re: Top Pattern
Wddy: We apologize for the problem with the upper piece. We took a second look at the pattern and lengthened the top piece to have more coverage over the toes.
Is pattern correct for top
I made these slippers, only the left side, and it appears that the top is a LOT smaller than what the picture of the finished slipper looks like. It also barely covers my toes. What did I do wrong or could the pattern not be correct for the top piece?
Great patterns
love the magazine and love the web extras
great idea
This is a great gift idea - thanks!
RE: Instructions
The instructions are only available in the Oct/Nov '11 issue. You can find it on newsstands now, or purchase it at quiltandsewshop.com.
