Easy Sew Christmas Ornaments
Supplies listed are enough to make one ornament.
Download the Have a Ball pattern HERE . Cut two segments from each fabric square. Label each fabric A, B or C.
Use 1/4" seam allowances unless otherwise noted.
Position one fabric-A segment right side up on a flat work surface. Fold the ribbon in half. Position the ends 1/2" beyond one short edge. Hand stitch the ends in place.
Align the fabric-A segment with one fabric B segment with right sides together, sandwiching the ribbon between the layers; pin. Stitch one long edge. Backstitch at the stitching beginning and end.
With right sides together, stitch one fabric-C segment to the opposite fabric-B segment long edge. Finger-press open the seams.
Repeat to stitch the remaining three segments, arranging them in the same colors sequence as the previous segments.
With right sides together, stitch the ornament halves along the long raw edges, leaving a 2" opening for turning. Finger-press open the seams.
Turn the ornament right side out. Firmly stuff the ornament with fiberfill, making sure to maintain a symmetrical shape.
Slipstitch the opening closed.
To finish the ornament upper edge, cut a flower shape from a felt scrap. Make a tiny slit in the flower center. Pull the ribbon hanger through the slit. Secure the flower to the ornament using fabric glue.
Glue or stitch ribbon or lace over the ornament seams.
Use coordinating fabric scraps to create 1"- to 2"-wide yo-yos. Hand stitch the yo-yos to the ornament upper and lower edges. For extra dimension, stuff the yo-yos with a small amount of fiberfill.
Hand stitch beads or buttons to the ornament upper and lower edges or along the seams.
