Linda MacPhee is one of my favorite Sew News contributors. We met about 3 years ago at the Sewing & Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, WA, when we sat next to each other at a dinner. We bounced ideas off of each other the entire night. Before we knew it, I had signed up to guest star on one of her episodes of the MacPhee Workshop on PBS and she had signed up to be a regular contributor to Sew News. “Linda’s Last Laugh” was born, and she’s been with us ever since.
Linda makes me laugh every time I see her. We have such a great time together and I truely value her contribution to each magazine. I know the readers love her because they send her countless letters, including their “Last Laugh” moments, and they flock to see her at her fabulous fashion shows at sewing expos across the country. When Linda was in Denver a few months ago at the Rocky Mountain Sew Expo, I absolutely had to travel down to the Merchandise Mart to see her. Here’s a photo recap of the event:
This is a photo of about a third of the crowd waiting for Linda’s fashion show to start.
Here’s a photo of Linda demonstrating her circle skirt (the pattern is available at macpheeworkshop.com).
Linda changes into about seven different jackets throughout the show. Here’s a sampling of my favorites!
If you ever get the chance to go and see her in your area, I assure you that you’ll love it! Don’t forget to bring a copy of Sew News with you for her to sign. I’m trying to come up with a catchy phrase to “label” Linda’s admirers…kind of like the “Fanilow” crowd. Any suggestions? MacPhans? The Last Laugh Ladies? The Ladies Who Laugh? When we all come up with something, I”ll be sure to create an embroidery design (and maybe some T-shirts) for us all to wear at the next show!
Send your “Last Laugh” letters to Linda MacPhee at email@example.com; subject line: last laugh. Or write to Linda’s Last Laugh, 741 Corporate Circle, Suite A, Golden, CO 80401.
May your day bring lots of laughter,
