A few weeks ago, I served as maid of honor in my best friend Erin’s wedding. Getting ready for the big day was filled with fun and craziness, including one night where we stayed up until 1AM tying tiny little bows on what seemed like a zillion programs. As the wedding day approached, Erin still needed “something blue” for her wedding ensemble. She was also in need of the proverbial garter, so, being the crafty seamstress that I am, I started looking for ideas on how to sew a garter from scratch. Luckily, I found an excellent tutorial on The Purl Bee that gave me a great starting point. I made a few changes to the basic design and customized Erin’s garter with a flower and glittery blue button for extra sparkle–stay tuned for pics!
Thanks to the ideas I found online, I had a lot of fun creating a special keepsake for Erin’s special day. Where do you look for sewing inspiration on the Web? Be one of the first five people to respond and you could win 20% off in our store!
