Did you know that March is National Craft Month? Kathy Cano-Murillo, aka the Crafty Chica, is making the most of this momentous month, along with the release of her debut novel, Waking Up in the Land of Glitter ($13.99, Grand Central Publishing), with a 30-Day celebration of all things glitter. Each day in March, she’s posting exclusive glitter-related tutorials, videos, tips and techniques on her blog. I’m definitely a fan of glitter, so I can’t wait to try some of the super sparkly ideas, such as these cool Frosted Gift Tags. If you need to stock up on glitter or want even more inspiration, check out the exclusive Crafty Chica product line from iLoveToCreate.

Last year the Crafty Chica came out with her first-ever sewing book, Crafty Chica’s Guide to Artful Sewing ($21.95, Potter Craft). In honor of National Craft Month, we have an exclusive copy to give away to one lucky reader! Just leave a comment on this blog post between now and Monday (3/22) at 5 PM Eastern time, telling us what you’re currently sewing, and you’ll be entered to win. We’ll randomly draw from the commenters and announce the winner on Tuesday. Good luck and Happy National Craft Month!

I am actually formulating my next project – my dad passed away 2 years ago, and when we were cleaning out the house I took snippets of his clothing that was too worn to give away – things he wore ALL the time, and things like the blankets on his bed & I plan on making 2 wall hangings out of the items I collected – for me, the “percolating” of the idea is the beginning : ). Now, I also have a sewing machine fear (I have TWO of them & I am clueless) so I know they are going to be hand stitched : )
I am currently teaching my young ladies how to use a sewing machine , we are currently working on simple quilt pillows. I can’t wait to see your book and get some ideas to share with my young youth and teen girls.
I am making tote bags from recycled denim. I purchas3 denim dresses/jumpers and colorful dresses from a local resale shop ($1 each) and make into totes complete with lining w/pockets.
Some of the denim dresses have pockets and embroidered bodices, so I work these into the pattern. I love recyled totes.

Waiting patiently for my sewing work area to be completed so I can finish my quilt project and sweat shirt make-over.
