Sew News at spring Quilt Market

logo100 Sew News at spring Quilt Market

Picture this: I’m back at work from a busy weekend at Quilt Market in Minneapolis. While sifting through over 200 e-mails, opening snail mail and listening to voice mails, I proceed to accidentally delete all of my Quilt Market photos from my BlackBerry. Here I thought I was the queen of multi-tasking. Not anymore! So, instead of sharing all of the photos of lovely new products, fabulous booth displays and co-workers partying like rock stars, all I am able to do is tell you about them. What a shame!

I was pleasantly surprised to see numerous garment sewing patterns at Quilt Market this year. It seems that garment construction, purse projects and baby items are all the rage in the sewing/quilting world…or at least they will be when the new patterns are made available to consumers. You’ll see the latest and greatest products in upcoming issues of Sew News. Keep your eyes peeled for “Cool Tools” in our next issue!

Our parent company hosted a lovely cocktail party on Friday night, complete with mini grilled cheese and tomato soup shooters! How cute is that? (Wish I could share my artistic photo of said grilled cheese. sigh.) There are many great things coming up in the world of Creative Crafts Group and I’m excited to be a part of it.

Despite the rain and humidity, spring Quilt Market was a huge success this year. I heard vendors saying that it was the most successful show in 4 years. This must be a sign that the economy is turning around–at least in the sewing world. What a relief!

What’s up next? CHA in Rosemont, IL. I’ll be teaching a great T-shirt makeover make-and-take project in the Stitch City right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle in the convention center. If you’re in town, check out the CHA Super Show from July 30 to 31. The project is absolutely free and there are many others you can make while you’re there, too. I’d love to meet you!

Until next time,

Ellen March
