Free Stuff Friday!

How often do you find time to sew for yourself? Usually I find myself making something for a birthday, baby shower, wedding or other upcoming occasion. Even when I come across fabric that I’d love to turn into something to wear, it usually ends up as another UFO at the bottom of the project pile. The new book Sew Serendipity by Kay Whitt has inspired me to change that!

I guess that I am like so many others..I get more satisfaction in making things for other people….I am now 50 and of course my body is not what it use to be…So I find my self just buying stuff to hide it..I would love to have some inspuration and insight on doing some things for my self…I buy fabric for my self and end up using it for someone else…I get easily bored now, expecially since I am home by myself..My kids and grandkids all live some where else..So I figure why bother..No one will see it anyway…I would love to have a new book to get me started thinking about some new things for myself…

When i found out i was pregnant again i wanted to make myself some cute maternity tops, they are hard to come by – plus t-shirts just look silly after you get so big. But i have not even made one top and im due in September. Instead my family members think that i want to fit there jeans or make curtains, for free at that. I’m a stay at home mom so nothing is ever for me. Maybe if i got this book i could at least make them after i have my baby girl, and hopefully in a smaller size.

I have the book “Perfect Plus” by Kathleen Cheethan and I tried the jacket in an inexpensive synthetic that looks like linen. I love the jacket but it’s still sitting on y mannequin waiting for a few more alterations. I know it’s supposed to be the test garment and I should just go ahead and alter the pattern and forget about the jacket but it seems such a waste. So I guess I do need inspiration to move on…
