Day 5 Giveaway: Home-Dec Heaven

Thanks to everyone for participating in yesterday’s giveaway, and congrats to our winner, Jeny! All of you had such fantastic ideas and tips for sewing green. What a resourceful group of sewists! Here’s Jeny’s response:

“I love making things from old felted wool sweaters. I use remnants for projects. I save scraps for projects. And when I recently made the girls some summer outfits, I had pinked the seams and let the edges fall into the trash can. My husband saw piles of pinked seam edges in the trash, and said “You’re not going to throw that away, are you?” I fished them out and tied a group of them onto a hair elastic for a cute hair ornament that the girls loved, and that matched their outfits.”

Today, we have the very helpful and handy Illustrated Guide to Sewing Home Furnishings (Fox Chapel Publishing) to give away to one lucky commenter.

I’m always looking for good storage ideas…..I think I have it all organized and then can’t find things because I’ve got a mess all around again!!

I’d love to see ideas on how to measure and make patterns for odd shaped items. For example, I have a great birdcage for my cockatiel and plan to make a cover for it. Tips and tricks that help to measure, add seam allowances, and crafting a pattern would be great!

I live in a very small one bedroom apartment and like everyone, no matter how big their house is I have a storage problem. I would love to see a system of storage ideas that would look good and be organized enough that I can find what I need.

  9. Kim Porter says:

I would like to see easy ways to make valances & cornice covers. To know how to measure so that the proportions are proper. Sometimes things look off & you want to make them look right.

  10. Lianna Santee says:

  19. jance meleo says:
