We loved reading your responses to yesterday’s question: What was the first garment you ever sewed? To add my answer to the bunch, my first garment was an extremely easy one-seam elastic-waist skirt made from red floral print fabric, of which I was absurdly proud. Thanks to everyone for participating! Our Day 10 winner is Betsy K., who said: “The first garment i ever made was a camp style shirt with my mom…it was a border print of sailboats. I think I was about ten at the time. I loved that shirt! I’m lucky, my mom (now 80) still sews and acts as my mentor.” Awww, that’s great, Betsy! We hope that you and your mom enjoy The Sewing Bible-Clothing and continue making many more garments together!
For Day 11, we have the lovely book The Gentle Art of Quiltmaking: 15 Projects Inspired by Everyday Beauty to give away to one lucky winner. Whether you’re an established quilter or have been wanting to give it a try, this book has great ideas, helpful tips and inspiring photography. Now, I know that many sewists don’t quilt and vice versa, but there are also plenty of us that like to dabble in many creative pursuits. So, to enter to win today’s prize, we’d like to know: How do you identify yourself? Sewist? Seamstress? Fabric Artist? Crafter? Designer? Quilter? Something else entirely? Submit your answer in the Comments section below by tomorrow when we’ll announce the winner!
