I guess it depends on the summer. I always make at least one summery skirt or dress, but this summer I am making maternity pants/shorts for my daughter.
I’m starting a yoyo project. I started making yoyos while camping. I wanted a “lap” project to do while watching tv or while camping. I’m not sure what I’ll make from them yet but I’m having fun in the meantime. It will probably be a small baby blanket.

I like making tote bags with matching wallets. We are on the road so they are easy to do.
I love to sew little purses. Adding decorative stitches, painted designs, quilting, embroidery and collage among other things. These are two fold purses with places for money, change, credit cards and a zipper area that will hold your passport so you are ready to go on a moment’s notice. They have a cross body thin strap so they are hands free!
I love to just find time to be by myself and sew. I have lots of catching up to do since retiring; unfinished projects have been sorted and put in tote bags, waiting for me to get to them. I’m not starting new projects, just catching up on the old. Progress is being made.
I like to sew t-shirt dresses for my girls.
I just started sewing in December, so I don’t have a favorite summer sewing project yet. I like making small accessories and home decor items though.
I make embroidered pillowcases–fast!

I love to sew beach bags, tank tops, and make cushions for my patio furniture.
I love to make new curtains during the summer to brighten my spirit for the upcoming winter. Changes help make my home feel new and fresh.
I like to make designs on fabric with “flower pounding.” I enjoy growing flowers and look forward to the summer months when there is a paint palatte of blooms in my gardens. I use the “flower pounding” method to paint on fabric and then make pillows, purses, wall hangings, lap quilts. There is a huge amount of “free colors” all around and the planning of what I am going to do is as much fun as the doing because of all the “eye candy” I get! And the “eye candy” is not fattening!
I love to make aprons for myself and guests for our back yard BBQ’S. Easy and fast and my guests love it when I tell them they can take their aprons home.
So far my best project in sewing this summer was a memory quilt (which I have never made a quilt in my 55 years of sewing) for my niece, who’s mother died when she was 2 years old. My brother-in-law asked to do this project an of course I could not say no. I was scared to death. Like I said, I have never done a quilt let alone a memory quilt. Bill, my brother-in-law came over with on less then 150 pictures. The first thing I did was call the store where I brought my sewing machine asking for help and they were just having a beginner’s class the next day and invited me to come. I did. I got some basic info but my mine was still spinning. The next thing I did was tell my husband that I could not do this because I had no idea where to start. He said her would help all he could and then I went to the internet and ask different sites for help and did not receive one answer, except sites trying to sell me thing. Not sleeping for two week and knowing that I need this not in the next four weeks, my husband began working and trying to set up a pattern and trying to figure out how to sew the picture in to the quilt. Of course the picture were of different size of course. To make my store short, we did get it finish two days before her graduation and she was surprised and happy that she had the special picture of a mother that she did not remember. A mother that she now could see how much she loved her during the time that they did have together, being it was only two years. This made my day, my year and the most awarding thing I have made for someone in the last 55 years. I have learned that you are never to old to learn something new.
By the way, for six weeks my husband made me breakfast, lunch, dinner and helped designed the patterns for me to cut for the quilt. Best man in the world.
