Next week, Ellen and I are headed to the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in Chicago! I’ll be in the Make-It Center teaching how to stitch up a fun ruffled pillow from Sew It All, Volume 3. Yesterday, I practiced by teaching my mom to make the pillow, and she did great! My mom is a beginner sewist, and it had been a while since she used a machine, so she was very gracious in agreeing to be my guinea pig. She was especially excited to learn the shortcut (using dental floss!) for gathering the long ruffle strip into a rosette. Check out her lovely handiwork:
The Original Sewing & Quilt Expo takes place at the Schaumburg Convention Center from March 22 to 24. The Make-It Center will be open each day from 10:30-5:00, so you can come and stitch up your very own rosette pillow with me. Ellen will be in the Sew it All area on Saturday (3/24) at 11 AM and 2 PM, so be sure to stop by to meet her! We can’t wait to see you!
