Welcome to Monday! I hope you were ready for it. And I hope it being Day 9 of our 13 Days of Giveaways makes it a little more bearable.
Yesterday we asked, “Do you use commercial patterns, draft your own or a combination of both?”

Thank you for all your responses! It sounds like a lot of you work from commercial patterns to get the basic outline, then alter for fit and style details. Today, TWO lucky winners were chosen to receive a copy of The Colette Sewing Handbook: Inspired styles and classic techniques for the new seamstress by Sarai Mitnick (Krause Publications, 2011).
And those TWO lucky winners are: Nicholson Massie and Kim Cady!
(Get extra pattern tips from Sarai in her episode, “Pattern Play.”)
Congratulations, winners! Email info@sewitalltv.com with your mailing address to receive your prize!
Today we’re giving away a copy of Christine Haynes‘ book, Chic & Simple Sewing to TWO lucky winners!! The book shows you how to make modern, stylish and fun clothes you’ll want to wear every day. You also get full-size patterns to make the more than 20 garments, including a classic shift, A-line skirt, and figure-flattering wrap dress.
(Check out Christine’s episode and learn to make a raincoat from a shower curtain: “In the Trenches.”)

A gift subscription to Sew News many years ago was the beginning of my continuing love of Sew News and all of its branches. Still wishing the TV episodes were available in northern Colorado!
When we signed up for our new TV service, the first thing I did was look for knitting and sewing shows. That’s how I found you. Thanks.
I can’t even remember how I discovered Sew News! I subscribed to it for a couple of years way back in the early 90′s when I was fresh out of high school. Now I have a lifetime subscription through the creative home arts club. I discovered all the other things through the Sew News Facebook page.
I discovered Sew News almost 25 years ago when it was a large size magazine and you could purchase large yellow folders to keep your copies in. Sew News exposed me to all of the other sewing websites and products and other links over these many years and I just got my latest magazine last week.

I discovered Sew News in 1992. I had stopped sewing for several years because I was busy with my children and job, but when the youngest was a sophmore in high school I decided I wanted to sew again. I felt as though I needed some help along the way to see “what was new” in the world of sewing. I picked up a copy of Sew News and it was exactly what I needed. I’ve been a subscriber most years since then and really look forward to my magazine coming in the mail. A quick pass through at first, then I sit down with my cup of coffee and read cover to cover!!
Facebook!
I discovered and subscribed to Sew News when my children were young. I stopped sewing until I started sewing for grandchildren. Now I am subscribing again. I read all I can about Sew it All. I found it through Facebook. I am able to get the show in my area but wish I could.
