Happy Monday! Thanks to everyone for participating in Friday’s giveaway! The prize this week was a grab bag of great stuff, including Fun & Fabulous Pillows to Sew (Lark Books) by Valerie Van Arsdale Shrader.
A short introductory course provides all the basic skills: seaming, installing a zipper, stitching buttons and buttonholes, adding flanges–and then it’s time to sew. Start simple with a knife-edged square pillow, move on to a boxed cushion with piping, and create a bolster to showcase a fabulous fabric. Each project builds on the one before, so readers progressively develop a repertoire of skills.
PLUS: A Nancy Zieman brush-type removable fabric pen, a ruler, an Indygo Junctionapron pattern and some little fun extras!
On Friday, we asked, What are your Independence Day plans? Out of over 100 responses, the randomly selected winner is Anna deVera, who will be spending Independence Day “quilting, quilting, quilting.” Sounds pretty good to us! Please email sewnews@sewnews.com with your mailing address to receive your prize.
Don’t forget to check back on Friday for another giveaway! Have a safe, fun 4th of July!

Wow. I was so surprised when I received my Free Friday gifts in the mail. I never win anything. I can’t wait to sew up the aprons. They are so cute. Fun and Fabulous Pillows to Sew is a very informative book. Thank you so much Sew News. I read your magazine from cover to cover & love it!
