Welcome to Day 7 of our giveaway series to celebrate Sew it All TV season 4 airing on PBS September 1st!
Thank you all for joining the discussion about Project Runway yesterday! I got a lot of votes for Ven as the favorite with Sonjia a close second. I must say, Ven’s pink rose top from the first episode was so striking, I still think about it! There’s a new episode on tonight!
Congratulations to yesterday’s winners of the book DIY Couture: Create Your Own Fashion Collection by Rosie Martin: Maria Kievit and Bonnie! Please email info@sewitalltv.com to receive your prize!
Learn more about creating your own fashion collection and running a fashion show from none other than Project Runway season 9 contestant Fallene Wells in her Sew it All TV season 3 episode “Forever Fashion.”
Today we’re giving away a copy of Christine Haynes‘ book, Chic & Simple Sewing. The book shows you how to make modern, stylish and fun clothes you’ll want to wear every day. You also get full-size patterns to make the more than 20 garments, including a classic shift, A-line skirt, and figure-flattering wrap dress.
(Check out Christine’s season 2 episode and learn to make a raincoat from a shower curtain: “In the Trenches.”)
Get another chic and simple (and free!) sewing pattern from season 3 guest Ellen Switzer, who demonstrated how to draft a pencil skirt pattern and then adorn it with quick-and-easy ruffled roses in her episode, “Dart Details.”
To enter to win this prize, answer this question in the comments section, “When was the last time you made a skirt?”
Was it for yourself or did a family member request one from you? The last time I made a skirt was in college, unfortunately- and it wasn’t even for me! Share your skirt stories with us here and maybe win a prize for it!
The Day 7 winner will be announced tomorrow, along with the Day 8 prize! Good luck and have a great Thursday!

The last skirt I made was approx. 2 years ago. It was for myself. It’s just a casual skirt- I’m wearing it today!

November. That’s when I bought my first sewing machine and my first project was a black skirt. Gave it a yolk and an invisible zipper. Wasn’t the best choice for a first project. Had to undo it many times because I kept messing up but eventually I finished it. Success is the worst teacher. I learned a lot from that project.
I’m still trying to work up the nerve…
1970′s
About 2 months ago. I made 2 skirts for my sister – a pencil skirt and an 8 gore skirt.
I have never made a skirt.
The only skirts I’ve made were costumes for plays (last year) or Barbie clothes (about 5 years ago)!
I made one back in college! (a few years ago… ha! ha! ha!)
Last time I made a skirt was in the 80′s. It was for my daughter. I haven’t sewn clothing for years, but I am going to make a dress for myself this week. I am excited about getting back to sewing clothes for myself. I didn’t give up sewing. I have been quilting.
i am new to sewing . i have not tackled a skirt yet but i do plan to
