Free Stuff Friday!

Happy Friday everyone!  Tomorrow it’s officially December, and for some of you that means it’s time to put up Christmas decorations!  (For others of us they’ve been up for weeks!)

One decoration that’s a must-have is a stocking!  Get your children and grandchildren involved this year by letting them make one!  This week we are giving away a Mini Winter Stocking Kit by Abracadabra Crafts.

    I always put the lifesaver candies that are in a book form package. I have been doing this since my children were small and now do it for my grand children also.

    For 30 years I have put a tube of deodorant in hubby’s stocking. It started as a joke, but the tradition just kept on. My kids loved it and now, so do my grandkids

    Well, I hang my stocking every year and every year Santa passes me by. I don’t get coal, thankfully, but I don’t get anything else either. I get joy out of just hanging my stocking.

    I always look for the items that are $10 or less. Quite often, I have hit paydirt, like a couple of years ago when I found these magnetic foto holders(from photojojo) that you can put anywhere. The small enclosed speakers for ipods are a great hit. Also I like to venture out into some of the ethnic grocery stores, for example, to buy toothpaste from India. Certainly not candy for many reasons.

    My kids (3 out of the 5 are in their 20′s, and the “babies” are 15 and 19) love to get those chocolate coins that are in the nets. I love the hunt every year to find them, it gets harder and harder!

    I always give a little booklet with pages that say “Free Hug” or “Extra Kiss” or “1 extra piece of candy”. When they got older, the pages “matured”, “Pass on 1 curfew by 15 minutes and no repercussions (but must call first)”, “Free ticket to movie” (didn’t have to use allowence), “1 chore that can be postponed for 1 day” (taking out trash, raking leaves etc). Very popular as they grew up and they did use the privilages wisely.

    I like to find something different and unique each year for my kids and grandkids stocking. One year it was a handheld game. Some years lip gloss/nail polish for the gals and flashlights for the guys.

    Our favorite stocking stuffer is one I’ve put in for years, the kids and my husband love it. It’s called Flarp, costs about $1 and when you poke it, it sounds like someone is farting.

    Instead of Santa getting cookies, the stockings have cookies like Peanut Blossoms.

  40. I love candy in stockings! Stockings can be filled with so much little stuff that people don’t need, but candy is always welcome!

    My mother was born in Europe so she has always put fruit in our stockings as children. I still keep up with that tradition.
