    I love to do Jacobian-style work, and I put it on everything.

    I love any kind of redwork, and often use it for tea towels.

    I love machine appliques. I can get creative and it gives me the chance to use bits of pieces of fabric leftovers.

    I make baby quilts by first embroidering baby motifs on fat quarters, and then I use those as the quilt top

    My favorite design to embroider is flowers, especially bright, colorful flowers.

  10. I love to embroider on store bought baby blankets. I find wonderful soft, furry baby blankets at local bargain-type stores. (Ex. Homegoods, Steinmart, etc.) I take these and put the baby’s full name and birth date. I’ll find an appropriate little design like a rubber duck, or monkey for a boy, cute teddy bear for a girl, etc. If I know the baby’s room color and theme, I try to match it! It makes a fabulous, quick baby gift and the Moms LOVE them!

    I am at the point in my life where I sew for my high school student. I customized the marching band logo and love putting it on draw string bags, jackets, and totes for the kids.

    I like to embroider personalized designs on gifts I make – for example I made a quilt as a wedding gift and the bride is a horse trainer. I was able to find a stylized horse design and incorporated the design into the quilt and the quilt was made in the colors I found on the wedding registries. The ability to personalize a gift is so amazing!

    I did my first FSL around Christmas and was amazed at how beautiful it becomes. I made snowflakes and candle tie-ons and people loved them.

    I haven’t got a favorite. I haven’t had the nerve to try to embroider yet. I live in a small town where there is no one to teach you how to use your machine.

    Flowers are my favorite to embroider and I love to do this on t-shirts to give them something extra.

    To Sue in the small town, contact your local quilt guild or sewing club. Someone will teach you– call the high school — night school– people in your town have machines keep looking for them. I lead a small mini group of quilters with embroidery machines and we are 50 miles from a sewing machine dealer. I do all the different samples from the web to test for the group.
