asg Sewing News For Monday

American Sewing Guild Conference is going on this week in Washington D.C. Here is a link to the ASG site, hope to see you there!

For those lucky ones heading to Paris, be sure to check out this exhibit at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs an exhibit all about racy underthings called Behind the Seams: An Indiscreet Look at the Mechanics of Fashion. From corsets, to cages and everything in between it offers a racy and somewhat unusual look at what was worn underneath. Check out a great review and more at New York Times.

behind the seams Sewing News For MondayAnd, of course, announce the winner of Free Stuff Friday!  I’m an avid follower of the Royals and an even bigger watcher of Kate and her fun fashion choices.  No, heirloom christening outfits in my history but it was fun to read all the comments about what you have saved or in some cases wished you had saved.

Winner is rcedson and I hope that she can use these books to make many, many special heirloom projects for little ones in her life.  Congrats rcedson!

rcedson, just send me your mailing address and I will get the prize out to you. Send to sewnews@sewnews.com

Thanks everyone and happy sewing!

  1. Cassandra Edson says:

Wow, what a surprise! Thank you so very much–I know I am going to put this to use, and will read and re-read!

  2. I sew all of my pants because my pattern is drafted to fit me perfectly. I sew most of my tops because I can’t purchase any that has enough length for my back due to a slight curvature of my spine.
