    I’ve never used hardware for handbags. I don’t really like metal hardware to be honest. Leather straps are okay though.

    If you count magnetic snaps as hardware, then yes. But if not, no, but I would like to try using handles. I love making handbags!

    Yes. I’ve made one bag so far and I have used D rings, a belt buckle, magnetic clasp and rivets.

    I have used several types of hardware but never grommets yet . . all have been easy enough for my liking . . .D rings are not as pretty as I thought although.

    I have used wooden handles from the fabric store, I have also used rectangle and D shaped metal rings to attach the fabric or webbing handle to a purse or diaper bag.

    I have used purchased and used hardware for my bags. I save money by getting some things at the leather supply store and the Big R.

    I recently made three little coin purses out of ultra suede with different metal finished hardware. They turned out better than I expected and my daughters loved them. I loved mine, too!

    The only hardware I have used so far is a magnatic snap. But I have a list of projects that use hardware just waiting to be started.

    Oh, yes, I have used several types of handles. Not nearly as intimidating as it sounds. Gives your purse a very finished, professional look.

    I usually just make a flap style purse with a snap, button or zipper.

    No, I haven’t used hardware, but have gotten lots of great ideas just reading the other entry posts. I will start saving the hardware on old accessories for sure.

    yes I have I made a messenger bag to use when going to the casino and needed a ring to clip my users card on so brought two packages of one inch round metal curtain rings joined them together to the length I needed – made two lengths of material for straps sewed them on either side at the top of the bag then slipped the rings through and I had a very stylish handle cheap and so handy to clip my card and cell phone on to.(the metal rings are the kind used for key rings)

    I used hardware for making purses, I used the D-rings, the Dog leash clasps, &
    I have also used the magnetic snaps, I love using the magnetic snaps, just have to measure to be just right :)

    I made Amy Butler’s bag with the grommets. It keeps deconstructing so I am on the lookout for an alternative solution perhaps using a Phoomph work around. I have no desire to chuck the bag because I love the fabrics I used. Are grommets considered hardware?

  32. I save all hardware, zippers, etc. from discarded (worn out) backpacks, bags, purses and use them where needed.

  36. I haven’t made any handbags yet but that is my next quest, but I have made a diaper bag and used some hardware for that. It turned out very nicely.

    Yes, I have used hardware in making a tote bag. Used plumbing tubing for handles – ran wire and yarn through it and beads as a stopper.

    I have used big snaps that you have to hammer through the fabric. Haven’t tried it again however.

    Zippers, grommets and handles !!!! Different bags different times ! All came out nice, simple to add and make for a nicer bag on occasion !

    I have used hardware. When my store bought purse failed, I recycled the hardware and made a denim and batik purse of my own design, which lasted much longer than the original store bought vinyl purse.

    Have not used handles but am planning on learning in the near future as I haven’t sewn anything in 30 years! Just bought me a new sewing machine and starting slowly!
