Pockets! They are essential to keeping up with what you have in your bag so that it is not chaos. At least 2 on the outside and 2 or 3 on the inside.

I love to sew bags, all kinds of bags. My personal favorites always have lots of pockets. Just FYI-I am a little confused about this sign up. It states it was posted today, Jan 17, but that the winner will be announced Jan 14. Hopefully that is a typo, and I will still get a chance to win this pattern.

  33. Ernestine Ranson says:

Pockets, of course. Also, the size must be right, big enough to hold what I need but not so big that it needs its own seat. And deep. I don’t want to worry about things falling out.

  34. Carol Anderson says:

My handbag must help me organize my day. Pockets are essential. An outside pocket for cell phone and keys is the ultimate! And, of course, must be pretty and stylish, reflecting my mood of the day.

Most important to me are pockets so I can find important items. An external pocket or two are essential as well. Next, I prefer a light color liner material, making it easier to find things. Zippers or strong magnet closures for security are a must. Of course, I am attracted to design and pattern first….which is why I love Amy Butler.

The most important details in a tote is security. I love inside pockets which zip or close to keep my items safely in place. My favorite and most used totes also have a zipper closure on the main body of the bag to use as well to be sure nothing jumps out while I’m running around or setting it down to drive, eat, shop etc. :-)

  41. Darcie says:

Yes, pockets! Lots of pockets. They don’t need to be zippered, as long as there are enough to organize different things in different pockets. And I like to make sure the bags I make are washable and have a nice, solid base so they don’t look so homemade. Well, I guess not a solid bottom for a style like this!

  42. Carolyn says:

More than essential, it is a must that I have pockets and a lot of them. I would be lost without them and sometimes I add them even when they aren’t called for. You can never have too many.
