…to suddenly realize Christmas is only 7 weeks away, freak out, then develop a crafting action plan. Whether you’re in full-on holiday gift-making mode or, like me, eating the leftover Halloween candy and just starting to think about Christmas, holiday sewing season is on.
Cue the classic holiday music, break out the cocoa and the candy canes…I do so love this time of year. I love felt and the holidays so much, I wrote a(nother) book about it! Tis the Season to be Felt-y. From cute nostalgic snowmen to reindeers fashioned from felt scraps and twigs to sculptural felt pieces like this amazing Yule Log by Aimee Ray (below) to sweet stockings and much more, this book is jam-packed with good ideas to get your home ready for the holidays.
Ornaments are one of my favorite things to make during the holidays: they’re lovely decorations (obviously) but they also make great teacher and coworker gifts. I also love garlands of all kinds and there are many to choose from, from simple pine trees to holly leaves to pretty little packages that double as an advent calendar.
I also love a colorful wreath for the front door. How cute is the hot pink poinsettia wreath of the cover? Love it – and it’s made without a stitch! As are many of the projects in this book.
No matter your holiday sewing status, I hope this time of year offers you a chance to slow down and enjoy all the goodness of family, friends, yummy food and the sweet satisfaction of making something (anything!) by hand.
