Amanda: I sort of participated in MeMadeMay 2016 but I was super pregnant…and ran out of memades that fit! This year is very different: on any given week, I manage a memade something most days. But I do have a few specific goals this year: wearing separates together and in multiple different combinations, assessing holes in my memade wardrobe (jeans and pants are one!), focusing on some unselfish sewing. And slowing down on the sewing front – I’ve been thinking I need to build in a little more time for experimenting but it’s hard to do that: I constantly feel like I want something to show for the little amount of sewing time I have. That said, my May to-sew list is hardly small.
Kate: My wear goal is a base goal of at least one garment four out of five weekdays each week, with a stretch goal of something MeMade every weekday. I have two garments and a small belt bag that I plan to make in my spare time this month (not counting pants and one LDB project), but I hope to add to that if time and materials permit.
Jill: I’m really excited about Me Made May this year. In the past years I’ve always been behind and may have thrown up one or two photos. But, this year I’m in it to win it! Fortunately, my spring and summer handmade wardrobe has a lot more items in it than the fall and winter. Currently, I make about 60% of my own clothes so there’s really no excuse for me not to participate in some public fashion. Colorado springtime can be temperamental. We can have 80 degree weather one day and snow the next. It will be interesting to see what I wear and how I can mix things up (I put away all my winter stuff). My goal is to slow down and do better work on the inside of the garments. If anyone ever looked in my ‘drawers’ I’d be so embarrassed! I tend to hurry through that part of sewing, figuring no one will see, but I do so it bugs me.
