One month from today we’ll be on our way back from the Original Sew and Quilt Expo in Schaumburg, Illinois. We’ve still got a lot to do, but we’ve been making plans and thinking up some fun surprises for people who come out to see us!
This includes, of course, putting together some neat items for the Sewing Swap we’ll be running each day. I’ve got to be honest — I’m looking forward to the swap the most of any event we’re running. Here’s a reminder about how this event will go:
Make something that you’d love to receive (no white elephants, please!) out of materials costing no more than $15. There are a lot of great little items that are fun options for something like this, like zippered pouches, pillowcases, a small purse or clutch, mug rug, mini quilt, sewing machine cover, softie, apron, or a placemat/napkin set.
Put your swap item in a plain, unembellished paper bag. Include a tag with your name and state — and if you’d like to make a new friend, include your email address, too. Bring it to the Sew News booth at 11:30 am, or drop it off anytime before then. We’ll do the swap at 11:30, but if you can’t be there, don’t worry — you can come by the booth later to pick up your new swap item.
For everyone’s comfort and convenience, please make sure the items will fit in a brown paper lunch or grocery bag (remember some people — like me — may be flying home and need to fit the item in their luggage), are free of pet hair and are from a non-smoking home.
Not sure what to make? We’ve got a great collection of possibilities at sewdaily.com/osqe. Check it out even if you can’t come to the expo — a lot of the items would make great quick gifts and the holidays are sneaking up on us!
