The month of October we’re celebrating Pants Month here at Sew News. We’ll have tips and tricks for making pants of your own, as well as reviews from the editors of Sew News on their favorite pant patterns. Today we’re featuring Jessica’s review of the Oceanside Pants from Blank Slate Patterns.

Fabric: Art Gallery Fabrics Solid Smooth Denim in Wicked Sky

Size: Small

Any Adjustments: Left out button feature on front pockets and chose not to make a coordinating drawstring, instead using white cording.

Review: I love a good, wide-leg pant, and the Oceanside Pant is one of my faves. They’re so comfortable and easy to dress up or down. The drawstring is an additional plus for comfort, sizing and versatility. The simple exchange of the drawstring can change the whole look of the pant. I used lightweight denim that drapes beautifully on a looser-fit pant but doesn’t wrinkle the way linen does. This pattern was so simple to sew up, I could make a few in one sitting.
