Welcome to week 2 of our Beatrix Top Sew Along! Last week, we discussed the many fabric options for this blouse. This week, we’re taking a closer look at bust darts. Let’s get rolling!
For a basic blouse like this, that you’ll want to make 42 times, it’s worth getting the fit just right with a fitting muslin. The majority of the shaping is provided via bust darts. Bust darts should point to the bust apex, but end well before it.
If you need to lengthen or shorten your bust darts, that’s a relatively easy process. You’ll need your pattern piece and a straight edge ruler. Using the fitting muslin as a guide, determine how much you need to adjust the dart on the flat pattern piece.
Then follow these simple steps for altering the shape of the dart to the new length.
There’s still time to grab the pattern and sew a Beatrix with us!
