In addition to an amazing array of fabric options, which we covered in week 1, and easy fitting (see week 2), the Beatrix top is the perfect canvas for creative hacks. Which is exactly where a basic blouse pattern like the Beatrix shines – you can get so many (very) different looks from this one pattern!
The pattern itself includes two version which are easy to mix and match. This version combines the shirttail hem from version A with the contrast button band from Version B for a versatile top with cute, custom detailing. Read more on the process over on the Made by Rae blog.
For even more hacking inspiration, search the #beatrixtop hashtag on Instagram. Here are a few of our favorite finds! Seriously, you won’t believe some of these started as the Beatrix!
Extend the top into a dress in a drapey rayon challis.
Create a circle flounce sleeves for a high impact look that’s easy to wear.
Add a sweet peplum to the lower hem.
Create a fun finish with an easy front tie hack.
Add a flounce to the short sleeves for a romantic, dressy vibe.
Use bindings (instead of facing) and add a unique sleeve tuck for extra volume.
Piece the front and back to create a striped, ombre dress hack.
Thanks so much for joining our Beatrix Top Sew Along. We hope the Beatrix becomes a great staple in your sewing pattern library and your wardrobe. We still have a few copies of the paper pattern here if you need to grab it!
