Let the HEALTHY stuff begin…again.
What a drag it is to think about working out right after a gluttonous holiday. The stores are suddenly full of workout wear, TV infomercials are all about training equipment, the short food videos on our social feeds all show the makings of healthy food. I’m hoping some of this will leak into my subconscious and help me make better choices now that 2018 is in full swing.
First up is to make sure I look great and feel confident when walking into the gym. A new pair of leggings will do just that. I happen to love our leggings pattern (it’s not just a shameless plug), and it fits a variety of figures. These sew up so easily–you could make several pairs of workout wear in one afternoon. With the price of some of those leggings out there, it really is more cost-effective to make your own (lululemon, anyone?).
Of course, you can also wear them out-and-about if you’re brave (or have a nice tunic or longer sweatshirt to wear with them). Remember to choose a fabric that’s not see-through when it stretches! You could also make them out of a cotton/spandex blend that has fleece on one side. Yesssssss, fleece-lined leggings are the best!
If you also need a sport bra, or other odds and ends to round out your workout wardrobe, look to this online sewing course. You’ll find tips for sewing workout wear using knits and stretch fabric along with techniques to finish a 7-piece workout wear collection.
We have to feel good about ourselves even before we hit the gym, before we start that new diet, before we count calories. It’s the only way we will continue to make good choices about our health, right? I hope making some new workout clothes will get you in the spirit. I sure do need a nudge…and picking out new fabrics always elevates my mood!
Here’s to a happy, healthy new year! Cheers!
