In part 3 of our Cap Sleeve (Plus Size) Blouse Sew Along with Meg Healy from from BurdaStyle.com we are going to go over how to finish the cap sleeves with an armhole facing, and then how to style your blouse.

Last week we finished off with putting together the peplum and bodice as well as sewing the tie band and hem. Then this week we will complete the blouse and style it for every occasion!

Step 1

Step 1: Fold the cap sleeve pieces, wrong sides together along the fold line and matching up the curved edges.

Step 2

Step 2: Pin the top notches of the cap sleeves to the shoulder seams of the blouse and continue to pin along the armholes. Stitch cap sleeves to bodice armhole inside seam allowances.

Step 3

Step 3: Interface the armhole facings (if not already) and stitch both the facing seams, right sides together. Press seam allowances open. Serge-finish the outer edges.

Step 4

Step 4: With cap sleeve basted to armhole, place the sewn armhole facings right sides together with the bodice matching the shoulder and side seams. Stitch. Note: the cap sleeve will be sandwiched in between the bodice and facing.

Step 5

Step 5: Grade seam allowances and flip facings to wrong side. Press.

Step 6

Step 6: Topstitch around the armhole close to the seam. Hand stitch the armhole facing edges to the inner allowances of the side and shoulder seams.

Step 7

Step 7: Also hand stitch the peplum front extensions to the waistline seam allowances.

Step 8

Step 8: Pull the right tie band through the side seam slit.
