By Sallie J. Russell

Materials

  • T-shirt pattern of your choice
  • Fabric for shirt in yardage specified on pattern envelope
  • 1/3 yard of fusible interfacing
  • 1/8 yard of one or two coordinating fabrics for "necklace"
  • 1/4 yard of paper-backed fusible transfer web
  • 1/4 yard of fusible tear-away stabilizer
  • Six 1/2"- to 5/8"-diameter buttons or charms
  • 1" or larger button or ring
  • Rayon machine embroidery thread
  • Beading, fringe or tassel to embellish large button or ring (optional)

Pattern Adjustments & Cutting

  • Using the front and back patterns, draft a 2 1/2"- wide front and back facing pattern (Figure 1). Cut the front and back facings from the fabric and the interfacing.

  • Follow the pattern guidesheet to lay out the pattern pieces.

  • Using the pattern in Figure 2, trace seven diamond shapes onto the transfer web. Fuse the diamonds to the "necklace" fabric(s) and cut them out (Figure 3).
