Round Buttons With Bead Base
Round Buttons with wire base

MATERIALS
Materials for "Basic Wrapped Button" plus:
  • Small round bead with hole large enough for wire to fit through

  • Cut 36" of wire and slip the wire through the bead, letting one end extend past the bead by about 4".
  • On the 4" wire end, lay a nail against the bead, and closely wrap the wire around the nail twice to create the shank.

  • Wrap the wire once around the shank to hold the loops together, then remove the nail. Clip the excess wire, leaving a ½" tail.

  • Begin wrapping the longer wire end around the bead, wrapping in as many directions as possible to create a spherical shape. Anchor the wire by wrapping it around the shank after every third wrap around the bead.

  • When the button is the size and the texture you desire, end the wrap close to the top of the bead and clip the wire, leaving a 1/4" tail. Using pliers, tuck the wire ends into the button.
