Beaded Wire Button

MATERIALS
Materials for "Basic Wrapped Button" plus:
  • 24-gauge steel wire
  • Assorted 2mm to 7mm beads in various shapes

  • Using 18-gauge wire, make a basic wrapped button. Leave more space between the wraps and use less wire to create an airier button that has room for adding beads.

  • Cut a 15" piece of 24-gauge wire and anchor it to the button by wrapping it around the shank twice.

  • Thread the wire through gaps left in the larger wire, then add a small bead or two. Thread the wire through to another area on the button, and thread on another bead.

  • Continue threading the wire and adding beads until you're satisfied with the button.

  • Wrap the wire twice around the shank and clip, leaving a small tail. Use pliers to tuck the wire ends into the button.
