Like all of us, magazines get a boost from an occasional makeover and it was time for Sew News to do a little sprucing up.
Instead of going to a spa, as we humans might, we worked with our design team and creative consultants to come up with a new, fresher look.
You'll find more photos in each issue and more focus on the project details. That's what you've asked for in past surveys, and that's what we believe is at the heart of our love of sewing--details, details, details.
In addition to the cosmetic makeover, you'll see some editorial changes as well. We've expanded some of the most popular columns, renamed a few and given others a new format. For example, our online column has been expanded to include a short description of each featured Web site so you know what it's about without taking the time to go there if it's not something you're interested in. Our popular "Making Connections" column now features more photos of hard-to-find items we source, and we've changed the book review column back to a monthly feature based on your feedback.
We've broadened our story focus as well. In the past we focused primarily on garment construction, but we know you sew many other things as well, so we've added more home dec and gift idea stories. Watch for some fun, quick-to-make projects and gifts, since we know you're sometimes pressed for time.
We hope this new look and new focus is a reflection of your sewing habits and your feedback. Let us know how you like the makeover. You can e-mail us at sewnews@sewnews.com, or send us a note at Sew News, 741 Corporate Circle, Ste. A, Golden, CO 80401. We look forward to hearing from you.
