Instructions

ornament for an enlarged view.
- Choose a holiday motif from the Debbie Mumm embroidery card. The
ornaments shown use designs 2 (flying heart), 19 (angel), and 31 (Frosty stocking).
- Hoop a layer of felt with several layers of stabilizer, adhering
them together with 505 temporary spray adhesive.
- Stitch the chosen design in the center of one felt rectangle, then
remove it from the hoop and clip the threads.
- If desired, embroider "Christmas 1999" on the other felt
rectangle (for the back of the ornament) using the embroidery machine or pre-programmed
lettering found on some BerninaŽ sewing machine models.
- Trim both felt rectangles so they are 1" larger than the
stitched design.
- Cut a layer of batting the same size as the felt pieces. Cut
several additional pieces of batting in graduated sizes, each slightly smaller than the
previous.
- Stack the graduated batting layers between the front and back felt
layers, right sides of the embroidered pieces facing out.
- Insert both ends of the 6" gold cord between the felt layers,
forming a hanging loop.
- Using the air-soluble marker, mark a line 1/2" from the
ornament edge.
- Thread the sewing machine with monofilament thread in the needle
and thread to match the felt in the bobbin. Using Bulky Overlock Foot 12/12C or Braiding
Foot 21, couch decorative cord around all edges along marked line. Dab seam sealant on the
cord ends to keep them from raveling.
- Pink the ornament edges 1/4" from the stitched cording.
