- Fringe too frail? Double up! Fringe two same-sized strips, then stack, tack
them together and use as one piece.
- Fringe burlap
for a funky trim on denim, casual black or khaki garments. For the neatest finish, cut
strips along the selvage using the selvage for the seam allowance.
- Use extra
yardage of the fringing fabric to make a coordinating garment. For example, incorporate
solid color fringe into a print fabric vest, then make a skirt from the solid fabric. Or
use the fringe fabric to add other details on your trimmed garment. On the denim vest
pictured, for example, replace or cover the original patch pockets and upper collar with
fringing fabric. To cover, cut same shaped pieces with a 1/4"-wide seam allowance,
turn under the edges and topstitch in place.
