The big bee Costume

The Big Bee
Entry by Sandy Sell

This costume has never been entered in a contest before. The idea came from a bee sting and my granddaughter being told she could be a big bee and the little ones can't get her no more. At age 2 she says she is a Big Bee that can't fly. She was a big hit on Halloween. I made the pattern for this costume for my granddaughter. I made the pattern fashioned from a heart shape with the shoulders on the fold. The material is black felt with gold stripes approximately a one inch space in between each on both sides. Velcro holds the sides together with a gold felt tie just under the arms. The wings are a heart shape also made from a file folder with white felt covering and bubble wrap taped on with double stick tape. This was pinned to the back of the costume. The white hat has two holes in the sides just above the ears with a head band, pipe cleaners and two Styrofoam ball painted black with a gold stripe of felt.
