Flower Fairy

Flower Fairy Costume
Entry by Christine Tellier

I made this costume for my 1 1/2 yo daughter, Lauren. I saw many patterns of Flower Fairys and decided to take a few patterns I had and create a new one! I used McCalls' #2649 View B as the main dress using a yellow Bridal Satin and a Sheer Yellow Overskirt. I used Butterick's #3146 View C petals for the Petal Overskirt and also used the same yellow sheer and added lavendar sheer as a complimentary color.
I sewed Hydrangea petals along the waistline attached with a single iridescent glass Mill Hill Bead and also added a few scattered thoughout the bottom overskirt in the same manner.
I found a styrofoam star for her wand and sewed individual petals and also attached each with a glass bead and tied ribbons at the base.
I bought a pair of generic angel wings at a party store and adapted them for this costume...I removed the piece that connects the 2 sides so they sat closer together and added an array of petals throughout the center again adding the ribbons to hang below...also did the same for the matching headband.
