2. Contest is open to anyone 18 and older who are legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia. Individuals whose business is making and selling purses are not eligible. Employees of Primedia Magazines, Inc., d/b/a Sew News, "Sponsors," their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies and their family members (defined as parents, spouse, children, siblings, grandparents) and/or those living in the same household are not eligible to enter.
3. Enter by constructing a purse (no ready-made purses are allowed), representing one of three categories: Evening, Casual or Working (backpacks, messenger bags and totes). The purse must be functional. Attach two photos (one of the entire purse and one closeup showing the detail) to the completed entry form and send to Let's Get Purse-onal Contest, Sew News, 741 Corporate Circle, Ste. A, Golden, CO 80401. Include your name, address, phone number and e-mail address. Entries must be received by June 20, 2005. Multiple entries are not permitted. No more than one entry per envelope. Sponsors shall not be responsible for lost, late, mutilated or misdirected entries. Illegible entries are not eligible.
4. Entries will be judged by the Sew News editorial and art staffs under the supervision of the "Sponsors." Up to thirty finalists will be selected and requested to send their purses to Sew News to arrive by July 15, 2005. Participants agree to be bound by these rules and the decision of the judges, whose decisions are final. From the finalists, one Grand Prize winner, and one first-, second- and third-place winner for each category will be selected. The winners will be notified by mail/e-mail on or about Oct. 1, 2005. Winners will be announced at the American Sewing Expo in Novi, MI on Sept. 30, 2005, and in the Nov. issue of Sew News. To obtain a list of winners, send a LSASE, after Oct. 1, 2005 to Let's Get Purse-onal Winners, Sew News, 741 Corporate Circle, Ste. A, Golden, CO 80401. Winning purses and finalists will be on display at the American Sewing Expo from Sept. 30 through Oct. 2, 2005. Purses will be returned to their owners by Oct. 30, 2005.
5. The Grand-prize winner will receive a Baby Lock Ellure sewing and embroidery machine. First-place winners will receive a prize depending on the category entered: Evening, Wild Ginger software; Casual, Ergonomic Advantage package; Working, Simplicity Digital Quik Press. Second-place winners in each category will receive a $150 gift certificate from Ghee's. Third-place winners in each category will receive All About Machine Arts by the editors of Sew News, and a one-year subscription to Sew News and Creative Machine Embroidery. Finalists will receive Snip-eze scissors from Havel's and a purse pin from the American Sewing Expo.
6. Sponsors make no warranties with regard to the prizes. Prizes are not transferable. No substitutions of prize allowed by winner, but Sponsors reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value due to prize unavailability. Prizes are not redeemable by winner for cash value.
7. All entry forms and photos become the property of Sew News and will not be acknowledged or returned. Sponsors will have the right to photograph the winner. Entry constitutes permission to use the winner's name, picture, likeness and city and state of residence for purposes of trade, publicity or promotion for no additional compensation except where prohibited by law. All entries must be original, may not have won previous prizes and must not infringe on any third party rights. Submission of an entry constitutes entrant's consent, to irrevocably assign to Sponsors any and all rights to their entry including, but not limited to, intellectual property rights. Submission of an entry grants Sponsors and their agents the right to publish, produce, use, adapt, edit and/or modify the entry in any way and in any and all media, without limitation and without compensation to the entrant.
8. The winners will be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release and where lawful, a Publicity Release. All taxes on prizes are the sole the responsibility of the winners.
9. All entrants release Sponsors, their affiliates, parents, subsidiaries, directors, officers, employees, and agents, and all others associated with the development and execution of this from any and all liability from injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting from participation in this promotion or acceptance or use of any prize.
10. Failure to execute and return any requested document within 14 days of postmark, or return of notification or prize as undeliverable may result in forfeiture of prize and an alternate winner will be selected.
11. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.
