Sew News: The Fashion Collection
Spring 2004

By Susan Voigt-Reising

Skort Story

Love the look of skirts but the comfort of shorts? Capture both in McCall's 4388 (Misses' sizes 8 to 22), a figure-flattering skort in three lengths with optional flapped patch pocket. Featuring an ample front wrap that closes with a tie or a single or twin buttons, this dart-fitted dream offers a waistband to emphasize thinner middles or a faced waistline to sit lower on the hips and elongate a short waist. Choose your best length: just above the knee to compliment glam gams or lengthen shorter ones; 2" below the knee to draw attention to shapely calves; or low calf if your ankles are your best feature. Fabricate to coordinate with your new jean jacket (see Jeans Scene) and you're ready for summer fun!
