Sew News: The Fashion Collection
Fall 2006

By Susan Voigt-Reising

Curves Ahead

Take a trip down memory lane in a wrap dress reminiscent of the hottest look of the late '70s. Our modern take is McCall's 5179 (Misses' sizes 8 to 22), meandering languidly over feminine curves in wool jersey, crepe-back satin or soft faille. A deep V-neck with optional binding descends into a straight or A-line skirt to complement either ample or anemic bottoms. An inset creates the effect of a drop waist. Tails tie at the front (to conceal a rounded tummy), at the back or to one side. Long sleeves take a straight course or detour a bit to create wrist fullness.

...Scenic Shortcut

From the September 2006 issue of Sew News magazine.
