Let's Get Purse-onal
Contest Winners!
We're pleased to announce the winners of our Let's Get Purse-onal Contest! Winners were announced at the American Sewing Expo in Novi, MI on Sept. 30 where the purses were on display for everyone to enjoy.
Grand Prize
Sandra O'Brien, from Macomb, MI, wowed everyone with her delicate combination of antique English lace, clasps, brooches and buttons. As Grand Prize winner, Sandra will receive a Baby Lock Ellure sewing and embroidery machine.

Evening
1ST PLACE: Patricia Greene, from Painesville, OH, won first place for her "old bag." Any purse that causes the Sew News staff to yuck it up is a sure winner. Patricia will receive Wild Ginger's pattern software.
2ND PLACE: Jane Miller of Madison, WI, swept up second place with her tribute to the Orient. Jane will receive a Ghee's $150 gift certificate.
3RD PLACE: Sarah Millar from Shrewsburg, MA, took third place with her wonderful woven-look bag. Sarah will receive the All About Machine Arts book and a one year subscription to Sew News and Creative Machine Embroidery.

Casual
1ST PLACE: Carole Bever from St. Louis, MO, nabbed the first place prize for her unique combination of wood and fabric to make a handy, fashionable bag. Carole will receive an Ergonomic Advantage package.
2ND PLACE: Jennifer Serfas, from Aliso Viejo, CA, won second place with her funky and colorful everyday bag. Her use of beading and contrasting fabric really caught our eyes. Jennifer will receive a Ghee's $150 gift certificate.
3RD PLACE: Mary Ann Griffin, from Troy, IL, created an intricately detailed carousel purse. The hand embroidery, beadwork and obvious intensive labor Mary Ann put into her project secured her a spot on our list. Mary Ann will receive the All About Machine Arts book and a one-year subscription to Sew News and Creative Machine Embroidery.

Working
1ST PLACE: Bonnie Bruce, from Benton Harbor, MI, grabbed first place with her many-sectioned entry. The Sew News staff was impressed with the impeccable work she put into making various sized pockets and dividers. Bonnie will receive a Simplicity Digital Quik Press.
2ND PLACE: Anne Varano, of Lakewood, OH, won second place with her butterfly batik bag. Work would be bright and cheery all the time if we all fluttered around with a bag like this. Anne will receive a Ghee's $150 gift certificate.
3RD PLACE: Anne Sammis, of Folsom, CA, won third place for her expandable bag. The amount of room inside astounded us! Anne will receive the All About Machine Arts book and a one-year subscription to Sew News and Creative Machine Embroidery.
