Cardigan for Caroling

If you're wearing a cardigan to chase away the chills, add some bling and turn your cover-up into a statement-making part of your ensemble. Three yards of trim was used to embellish the featured cardigan. If your cardigan has a different neckline, or if you want to trim another area, measure it to determine the amount of trim needed.

Cut 2 1/2"-wide strips of fusible stretchknit interfacing long enough to stabilize each placket and around the neckline. Fuse the interfacing to the cardigan wrong side, clipping the stabilizer at the curves so it follows the sweater corners. Omit the interfacing if your chosen trim isn't heavy.

Hand stitch the trim to the cardigan, beginning at one placket lower edge and continuing around the neckline to the other placket lower edge. Cut off any excess trim and apply seam sealant to the cut edge if necessary.

Jacket for Jingling

Whether you have a velvet jacket from last season or a favorite jean jacket, adding a little glitz will dress it up for a night on the town.

Remove the factory buttons (keep them if you want to alter the jacket for spring or summer). Pin-mark each button placement.

Choose decorative buttons that are the same size as the buttons you removed. Hand sew the new buttons at the pin-marks.
