Christmas Giveaway Day 9 — Double Prizes!

Happy Monday, readers! The winner of our Day 8 Giveaway is Chuck for his answer “My wife says I’m a beginner. Therefore I am.”

We’re all sort of beginners. There’s always more to learn.

Chuck won Sewing Machine Basics by Jane Bolsover (Cico Books). Congrats Chuck, I hope the book will come in handy to you! Email with your mailing address to receive your prize!

Our Day 9 prizes (that’s right–plural!) are sewing gadgets that I would have loved in making my Christmas gifts this year:

True Grips 176x300 Christmas Giveaway Day 9 Double Prizes!

TrueGrips by The Grace Company are non-slip adhesive rings to apply to the back of any ruler to keep it from moving when  measuring and marking.

SewlineGluePen 450 300x300 Christmas Giveaway Day 9 Double Prizes!

The other prize is a Sewline fabric glue pen, which dries clear and is water soluble for holding fabrics together instead of using pins.

One lucky reader will receive both these cool prizes by answering this question:

What’s your favorite sewing gadget?

Post your answer in the comments section below. The winner will be announced tomorrow!

I have no favorite gadget, but have to say the most used is my seam ripper

  2. ruth ann says:

I would like to make either a handbag, or pillows, or a christmas wall hang decoration.

  3. Cynthia C says:

My favorite gadget is a bamboo skewer that lets me manipulate fabric very close to the needle without endangering my fingers.

  4. Natalya Hoak says:

My favorite sewing gadget is currently my nifty needle threader. I don’t know what I did before I had one!

  5. Erika says:

the seam ripper. It is priceless!

  6. Linda T says:

I have so many sewing gadgets it is hard to pick just one but I will pick my seam guage/hem gauge. The black ruler with the red plastic slide. I can’t get anything done without it. I miss my original one with the metal slider. I got it when I took sewing in 7th grade and had it for at least 30 years.

  7. Chuck says:

My Singer Featherweight. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

  8. Evelyn says:

I love my rotary cutters because I can cut more accurately and certainly a lot quicker with them. I have several sizes for different uses.

  9. Blossom says:

Oooh, I want both of those! I don’t know that I really have a favorite sewing gadget. Maybe my ruler gripper (can’t remember the real name of it) – it’s like a giant suction cup, with a handle, that is used to hold a clear acrylic ruler when rotary cutting. Helps keep the ruler in place, and keeps my hand away from the sharp blade!

  10. Alyssa says:

I actually do not have any sewing gadgets. I have only used a needle and thread….so i guess I would say those are my favorite! My best friend is a fashion designer and I would like to win these gifts for her :)

  11. Marilou P says:

My favorite sewing gadget is my daughter’s imagination! If I can’t figure out how to do something or need a solution she’s the best tool I have! Ha ha

  12. Diana says:

My clapper. If a garment I make isn’t well pressed, it looks terrible and my clapper is a tool I can’t live without to help with that pressing.

  13. Lisa says:

I have to agree with Jamie, my seam ripper is my favorite gadget since I use it *every*time I sew. I’m still hoping to get to the point where I can complete a project without getting out Mr. Seam Ripper :) But these 2 gadgets are sheer genius!

  14. Jan Perry says:

my favorite sewing gadget is water soluble marking pen with “eraser” tip at the opposite end. I buy several at a time. They are handy for several projects.

  15. Myrna Smith says:

My favorite gadget is called a snagnabit. It is a long needle like tool with a file texture on one end. I use it for pulling snags and threads to the back of the fabric and for picking fur out of seams.

  16. Myrna Smith says:

My favorite sewing gadget is something called a snagnabit. It is a long needle like tool that has a ribbed file like texture on half its length. It is used to pull snags and threads through to the back side of the fabric. It is also excellent for picking fake fur and nubby threads out of the seams( when making teddy bears for example). I also use it for pulling snagged threads back into alignment in delicate plaid or patterned fabric. It’s a neat little item.

  17. Jamie Fukofuka says:

My favorite sewing gadget is my stitch ripper! But these two gifts would be my new favorites!

  18. SewLindaAnn says:

My fave gadget is my rotating cutting mat. Now I can easily rotate it to the side I need to cut on my fabric without moving the fabric itself.
