Sew it All TV 13 Days of Giveaways — Day 1

Hello everyone! We’re celebrating Sew it All TV season 6 airing on PBS in September. So, today kicks off another round of Sew it All TV 13 Days of Giveaways! That’s right, every day from now until August 31, we’re going to be giving away a fabulous prize.

In addition to 13 cool prizes, we’re giving away a Grand Prize: a copy of Sew it All TV season 5 on DVD! Each day you comment on a blog post, you’re entered to win that day’s prize, PLUS the Grand Prize! Enter every day to increase your chances of winning!

We had a blast filming season 6 and hope you enjoy all the great projects our fabulous guests have to offer. Check your local PBS schedule for airdates and times. And if they don’t carry Sew it All, email, call or write them a letter to request it! 

We were lucky enough to have Mark Montano in our studio as a guest for Season 6, and he created a super cute oilcloth wallet and a card holder made out of…paint cards! I love using surprising materials to create something totally different.

    Sharing my love of sewing with the grandkids and attempting to keep up with the marvelous items my friends are creating. Not to mention the gorgeous fabric my local shop carries. We have a gem of a store in St. Paul, MN.

    That’s easy, the weather. It’s my muse. When it’s hot I want to bags and place mats and Sun dress for my grand daughters. When it’s, Cheney’s somehow tea and Christmas sewing. SO YOU SEE IT TRULY IS THE WEATHER FOR ME!

    My sister has always had fitting issues so she feeds into my sewing habit. I love to sew for my grandsons and I have sewn for most everyone I know at one time or another.

    It doesn’t take much to inspire me to sew. My day just doesn’t go well unless I’ve spent some time sewing. I enjoy looking at as many sewing/quilting/embroidery sites online as I can, taking classes to learn new techniques, and of course, shopping for new fabrics.

    I am inspired by friends’ creations. I belong to a quilting guild and I don’t like to miss our show and tell. Not everything is just quilted. We share all our sewing creations. And they are also helpful in showing how to do things that are difficult. I recommend it to everyone!

    Creativity inspires me, the process of seeing a project, finding the fabric and notions for it, then sitting down and creating it. the finished project keeps me inspired to do more. I love to create and am inspired also when the recipient is happy with their gift.

    I am self taught and have been sewing for over 43 years. I am inspired by the fabrics I’m surrounded by, pictures and images online and around me as well as by need.

    What inspires me to sew? My three great nieces – ages 10, 8 & 5. What even inspires me more is when I can bring them over, get out THEIR sewing machines and work on a project together! What fun!!!

    I love watching Sew It All. I have it recorded and go back and watch episodes when I’m working on something or just want to learn something new. I especially enjoy the tips and tricks from seasoned sewers for the newer crowd. Great job and I look forward to the new season!

    Well get inspired by patterns or fabric. I can sometimes look at fabric say that would be a great bag/ purse or whatever I am into. Fabric also inspire me to make my own thing. I also can look at pattern and make it the way envision it.

    I get inspired by lots of things: finding a cute skirt in a store that I know I can make for a LOT less, finding beautiful fabric in my favourite fabric store, pictures in magazines that I know I can reproduce, but lately, mostly by my 18 month old granddaughter, who looks so adorable in her little dresses that I can’t resist making!

    What inspires me to sew? Having the HONOR of my 82 (83 in 3 days) year old mother (who taught me to sew along with Home Ec) go to the fabric store with me this past weekend. :-) . A TENDER WINNER!!!!!!!!! -JC. She still knows how to crochet and knit very well and self-taught. :-)

    I am inspired by fabric and current fashions. But I don’t typically make current fashions – I love mixing old with new. For instance, I might mix a retro bodice with the skirt from a current dress to get the look I want. I love using unexpected prints and textures!

    I’m inspired by color, especially autumn themed tones. I just love the look of these colors in my home and have found that my fabric stash reflects as much. The challenge of a design is also an inspiration.

  37. My inspiration is the event or person I am making something for. My niece got married, so I’m making a memory quilt of her special day. My great-niece being born, she got a beautiful quilt for her crib, and another got a wall hanging made with her name, as it is not a very popular one!! So yeah, my loved ones are my inspiration!!!
