Happy Tank Week!
I wanted to test a knit tank as well as a woven to have options. These will be my two go-to patterns for summer!
First I went with the Rumi by Christine Haynes Patterns.
I love Christine Haynes patterns. They have a vintage flair and a great size range. We have a selection of exclusive Christine Haynes patterns in our store and they’re all great wardrobe staples. I particularly wanted to try this tank because I’ve seen different variations popping up all over Instagram and it’s looked great on all figures–I’ve even seen a maternity version of the tank dress that looked pretty chic. It all depends on fabric choice.
I went with a soft jersey knit. It had just the right amount of stretch. I’ve had the fabric in my stash for a while and it was originally intended for a skirt. So I had ample yardage for this top. I sized up a bit because I didn’t want it to be too clingy–the fabric was a bit more sheer than I originally thought, so I figured I’d want to wear a cami underneath.
I love how it turned out! It’s a bit roomy (perhaps a pun on the name?) but I did size up, so that’s to be expected. I will try it again using a smaller size in a slightly heavier weight knit. With my leftover fabric, I plan to make some sleep shorts and this will be a great sleep set for the hot summer months ahead.
I had great plans to make Made by Rae’s Gemma top out of a woven fabric, too. But I just didn’t get that far! At least I’ve taped together the pieces and cut them out.
I’m stuck on fabric choice. I know it will be yellow…perhaps you can help me choose!
I’m leaning toward the mustard print (lower right) because it will transition well into fall. Plus, it will be less sheer. What are your thoughts? My plan is to get it sewn today! I’ll post pics on the Facebook page, so stay tuned!
