T-shirt pattern reviews from Sew News!
This month we are reviewing several T-shirt patterns, that wardrobe staple that every pattern collection should have. We’ll be showing you our makes and what we liked, any alterations and tips for making one of your own. Next up is Kate with her version of the Hey June Handmade Lane Raglan top.
Pattern: Lane Raglan, Hey June Handmade
Fabric: Art Gallery Fabrics Knit in Twinklestar Berry and Peachy Custard
Any Adjustments: Because my bust and hip usually indicate different sizes, I cut an XL to the waist per my upper bust measurement and then blended the side seams out to a 2XL below the waist to ensure I had enough room in the hips.
I love the look of raglan sleeves, so this pattern immediately caught my attention. I was delighted by how fast and easy it was to construct. The hardest part was choosing two perfectly coordinating fabrics so I could make contrast sleeves. I love the range of options this pattern offers, including three sleeve lengths (I chose half length for spring and fall transition wear), sleeve and hem bands, a hood and two hem options. This one pattern could be used to make a whole range of tops appropriate for any time of year. It’s a great basic sporty T-shirt pattern for beginners and advanced sewists alike. I’m definitely planning to play with more of those options in the future!
